History

GAMCO

• 1950 – Filmstrips, ditto masters, and over-head transparencies are created
• 1980 – Touchdown Math, Worksheet Magic, Number Facts Fire Zapper, and other software tools are created
  • A football coach from a sleepy little town in Big Spring, Texas, needed to help his players keep their math scores up, and Touchdown Math was born.

Siboney Learning Group

• 1996 – The Orchard Learning System is born
  • 40+ Programs and Linked under one management system
• 2000 –  The Orchard Test of Basic Skills is created
  • Students are tested on the skills they would be expected to learn, and are automatically assigned individualized learning
• 1996-2010 – Orchard Gold
  • Over 100 programs added through acquisition of Teacher Support Software, Educational Activities Software, and internal development.
  • State and national standards-based tests are added.
  • The learning management system is enhanced, and the Orchard Assessment and Assignment Builder is created.
  • Orchard Now, a streamlined out-of-the-box version of Orchard is made available

EdOptions

• 2010 – 2014 – Orchard Learning is acquired by EdOptions, which is then acquired by Plato.
  • Over 900 tutorials are added to Orchard Now

OrchardED

• 2014 – BrainstormUSA, a long-time Orchard customer, acquires Orchard from Plato
• 2016 – Orchard Gold is made available online
